[ As much as Sylus would market himself as a shadow—a silent threat in the dark—the truth is that he has an ego, and he enjoys attention and prestige. He's not stupid and reckless, but that doesn't mean that he gets into trouble every now and then.
And sometimes, someone else might get tangled up in his antics. ]
a. the dome
[ Or rather, right outside The Dome.
He spots a target, and appears right beside you, hand on your arm to turn you toward him while he fits himself against the closest wall. Basically, you've been nonconned into kabedoning him.
His gaze only flicks down to you for a second before looking back around the area. No conversation needed, apparently. ]
b. nashville bowling centre
[ When the pinsetter comes down next, instead of pins there is an unconscious man. There is a bruise on his face.
From behind you, Sylus is apparently chilling. ]
I'd be careful which ball you pick.
[ Also, the staff are not going to be super enthused about this once they notice. ]
FRINGES /
[ It's nice to get out of the city every now and then, replacing the smell of grime and petrichor with the rich scent of chocolate and relatively fresh air. Even Sylus, who thrives in dirty cities and chaos, appreciates the chance not to constantly watch out of a surprise shiv in his spleen.
Then again, the sweet smell is slightly marred by the rot of dead bodies, so it's still not entirely removed from the feeling of home.
a. chocolate river 1
[ Looking to cross the river and avoid swimming in the chocolatey corpsey goodness? Luckily, there is a boat that appears. Unluckily, it is occupied by a grown man who is standing on the boat. Just standing. ]
Occupied.
b. chocolate river 2
[ Inside the mansion, and cozily settled in the wine cellar, he's staring at the bottles of wine covered in cosmic residue. ]
Hm... I wonder if it's worth it.
[ It would be nice to sit back and relax with a drink. ]
( this is the worst person sylus could pick as a target. cloud's hackles are immediately raised, and he doesn't like anyone touching him, thank you very much, much less someone that looks, a lot, like the man he is obsessively trying to find.
cloud shoves himself away before he gets the chance to be forced into kabedoning the stranger, hand quickly moving to the hilt of his sword. )
Sephiroth—
( the suddenness, the darkness in the space, how could he not think this is another attempt by the super soldier to taunt him? get ready to be cleaved in two, not!sephiroth! )
[ This is kind of what Sylus had been hoping to avoid. Well, sort of. He's not interested in picking fights that don't benefit him beyond feeding his ego, which is why he wasn't interested in falling into a never-ending beef with the goons trailing him until he was confident that he could crush them completely.
He doesn't mind the outrage that Cloud meets him with—isn't particularly surprised by it, if he's being honest. He does think that reaching for the sword is a bit of an overreaction, but he understands that this is a crazy and eclectic city filled with crazy and eclectic people.
The word uttered makes no sense, though. Is it a curse of sorts?
Regarldess, he leans back of his own volition enough for his back to hit the nearest wall, meeting Cloud's gaze with a little smile. He makes no indication to dodge the blow.
But if Cloud does follow through with the attack, the man in front of him will simply disappear in wisp of black smoke and feathers, reappearing off to the side. ]
( nothing about this guy indicates that he isn't whom cloud (wrongly) assumes he is. which is why there is nothing which stops him from wanting to follow through with this (ill-thought-out) attack. he raises his arms, buster sword held aloft, and cleaves right into—
wisp of black smoke and feathers, slamming right against the brick wall where the man once stood. the sword breaks some of the bricks, creating a dent on them, and contact makes cloud step back, stunned for a second or less, but still enough time to get him to see the smoke and feathers, sending his brain into a bit of a frenzy, as a piercing migraine stabs right through his head, down to his neck. )
Ugh—!
( not his finest moment, as a hand reaches to press against his head, eyes closed, crumbling to his knees. )
tifa isn't too sure how to react to this. she stares at the man on the ground, trying to decide if she should help or not. it is kind of difficult to figure things out here, since everyone is busy committing crime and being asses, if something may be deserved or not...
so instead she just turns to the person who spoke. there's a long pause as she's startled for a second, but then the moment passes. ]
[ i shared on my plurk... it's not my fault you ignore me......
That's fair of Tifa, to be honest. Sylus is mildly curious to see what she'll do. Is she enough of a hero to rescue the strange back from his bowling fate? ]
Looking to steal my moves?
[ Casually adjusts the cuff of his sleeve as he says this. There's no additional elaboration. ]
the fact that he really is not reacting to this guy who is just there confirms that he is involved. tifa looks between the two of them, still wondering how to approach this. ]
Do your moves include whatever lead to this...?
[ she gestures towards the other end of the lane... ]
[ Once she'd learned that Verso and Lune had scavenged some wine from this place, Sciel had made a mental note to get to the mansion as soon as possible, lest it all get snatched up. They hadn't mentioned the horrible river between her and success, though, which troubles her for a while before she decides that, yes, it's worth it, and finds a way across.
She's somehow not expecting to see anyone once she arrives, descending to the wine cellar and pausing once she spots someone already there. It's even more of a surprise once she realizes the figure is someone she already knows. ]
Never know until you try. [ Sciel submits, after a pause. She's standing in the doorway with a hand braced against the wall, watching him with a budding, amused smile. ] Tell you what: I will if you will.
[ This is a lot of work. Between traversing through the sickly sweet river of bloated corpses, and the bizarre body horror creatures trapped on the bottles, it is a lot of effort for a free bottle of wine. Wine that cannot even be guaranteed to be of good quality.
But for some reason, Sylus can appreciate the foolish determination. He's here himself after all, and finds himself somewhat pleased to see the familiar face. ]
Why do I suspect that's your approach to most of life's challenges?
[ A rather presumptuous response when they aren't know each other, but Sylus tends to be presumptuous.
[ livio's here as a fighter, hoping to earn some extra cash. he's a tired as he makes his way through the crowd, so it takes him an extra few seconds to clock sylus and his shenanigans. so here they are, with livio kabedoning him. ]
[ his face goes red and he immediately drops his arm ]
