Now that, Charles understands. Something not being worth the cost in the end. He would like to think that most things he would do again, but there are some things he lost that he can't help but think about a life with. His inability to fully accept his life in a wheelchair is what led him to an addiction and a deep depression. He got his legs back at the cost of what he often told people never to let go of, and now he's made the trade back. But it may always be a turning point for him, that day on the beach. Charles may have a chance to get back Raven and Erik, but it'll never change what was broken.
"I'm sorry," he says genuinely. "It is unfortunate when there is no turning back on a decision." Just a lifetime possibly of regrets. Whatever Viktor did, experimented on, led him to a conclusion he didn't want. That's tragic either way.
"I see. I do, mostly. Except I can't leave the chair. So you know who to look for, if you want." Charles is not so easy to startle. He may be surprised when he sees Viktor's true form, but he knows what he is on the inside, which is what truly matters. "What you look like, was that the result of it?"
"There's no need to apologize." They've only just met, after all, and though Viktor understands this is just general sympathy, he's still not very good at processing such sentiments.
Everything here, however, is noted. Viktor doubts he'll be able to sneak up on someone like Charles--he gets the sense that he's only experiencing a fraction of his psychic ability. Even this might be too much to reveal.
"Something like that, yes." To detail how he remade his body feels to be too much, for a stranger. He'll understand, if they meet in person. "It's difficult to explain."
It won't be difficult for Charles to connect Viktor in here to Viktor in his body, no matter what it looks like, because psychic energy translates. He has a feeling for people. It doesn't require reading a mind for him to get impressions of a person, and he hopes that he will run into the physical manifestation at some point. His curiosity is certainly engaged.
"Perhaps one day you'll feel comfortable enough to talk about it in detail. I can't deny that as a scientist, I'm intrigued, but only if you want to." Charles knows that they only just met, so he's not pushing. It's placed there as a possibility for the future if Viktor decides to later, not as any particular expectation.
"Are you concerned about being in this world looking different? This is a strange enough experience as it is."
Viktor offers something of a pained smile, one that indicates this is as far as he'll go, for now. He hadn't exactly expected to meet anyone here, and in that way isn't really prepared to say much more about himself. He imagines much of this will become clearer if and when they meet in person.
"No," he says, the reply coming fairly easily. Viktor is used to scrutiny, pity, derision. He can't imagine a place like this could be any worse, not when there are so many people from so many different worlds. "Unless you think I should be."
We can probably wrap on this one! maybe he can meet REAL Viktor soon
"I don't know this world well enough to guess. It does seem a little more used to the abnormal, given the situation." They're all absorbed here from other universes, it would be strange if everyone was boring and average about it. Charles hasn't gotten a sense for the main population yet (and he won't be happy about the noise once he does) but he can't see people easily being shocked around here.
One of the workers tries to get his attention and he turns his head in that direction. "It appears they have my van ready." An accessible one, and he is genuinely excited about driving for the first time in years. "Come say hello if you see me in the city. I'd love to chat again." He respectfully nods his head and then disappears from the astral plane.
I lost this notif sorry!!!! stupid dw
