1. It behaves toward him as it does toward his partner and other characters with him. He is not anything dangerous nor threatening because he himself believes he is not capable of any great feats.
2. It rejects him and denies him the offerings based on his own belief that he contains too much darkness to deserve anything "good" or "holy." The greater his fears about his nature, the more the temple will reject his presence until it all crumbles.
