[ She thinks? Something about how she says that snags Logan's attention. For a second, he's quiet. ]

What happened?

[ In a way, he already knows the answer. There's not a lot of things it could be. You got apocalypse, war...that's about it.

He gets it. The kids who spent more of their lives surviving a war than they did playing outside would've said the same. Once it all went to hell, it wasn't like they were still going to malls or a movie on the weekends, and any mutant born around the incident at the Golden Gate Bridge might've never experienced the stuff once deemed normal in the first place. It's not fair. Y'know? He doesn't give a shit if life deals him the worst cards in the deck, but the kids don't deserve it. And unlike her, he's got no idea if he managed to save the timeline. Wade tells him he did, and as much as he wants to believe it, as much as he let himself believe it in that moment, as the days stretch into weeks—as he watches Rogue and Scott all plucked from different points of tragedy—he's not so sure what difference it makes. He's not sure who he really managed to save, if anyone.

Charles would tell him the signs point more toward hope than not. He knows that. He just has a harder time buying into the possibility of a good thing when it's not in front of his eyes. ]
