[ He hears a whole lot of things happening for her right now, almost like all those thoughts and feelings are all colliding with the reality of their situation again, things like fear, maybe, and worry; the promise of escape, but the way it's still not certain. Wait, she says. Shit — but then she's got it, she's got it, she's good. He gives her a little nod, his expression softening when she smiles.

How much they can trust this guy, who knows.

Figure he could've just ran off, but — he's giving it a shot, so — they're better off than they were, even if they're still trapped. Amos isn't a platitudes and pep talks kind of guy, exactly, and he really can't be sure, but that water seems to get worse when the tension's building, almost like the room — fuck, though, really? Water that...reacts? The hell kind of place is this anyway?

How long you been here? Not the building, just — here. Couple days for me.

[ He's not a small talk kind of guy, either; not that he minds having a conversation, he's just not usually the one initiating. Pretty much anyone else would be better at this than him, probably ask better questions, too, but this serves a purpose.

If they're not talking, it's just that sound of the rain pounding, the minutes ticking by, all the things he can't control about this particular situation. And then it's like it's all just happening to them, and he doesn't like that, either, so might as well own the minutes they've got for as long as they've got 'em. ]
